Twelve cents jump during past week alone
25 February 2019
OMAHA, NE (Feb 25, 2019) ––– Nebraska gas prices for unleaded fuel climbed twelve cents a gallon during the past week to a statewide average of $2.31 a gallon, reports AAA-The Auto Club Group. Driving the increase are higher crude oil prices which are up $10 a barrel since the first of the year.
“For every $1 increase in crude oil costs, pump prices typically increase 2.5 cents a gallon,” said Rose White, public affairs director, AAA–The Auto Club Group. “The first week of January, crude was trading at $45 a barrel in the U.S. market. Today, crude is at $55 a barrel.”
Nebraska motorists filling a 15-gallon tank today are paying $4.10 more compared to pump price averages reported on January 1. At that time, the state average for unleaded fuel was $2.05 and many motorists were paying less than $2 a gallon.
“Today, only one community in Nebraska is reporting fuel at $2 gallon, and that will likely change very soon,” said White.
