IL/IN drivers enjoy largest month-over-month savings across the U.S.

10 August 2015

AURORA, Ill., Aug 10, 2015 Drivers in Illinois and northern Indiana are paying less at the pump this month now that production issues have stabilized. Illinois and Indiana drivers are currently paying on average $2.60 and $2.41 respectively for a gallon of regular unleaded. These prices are $.32 and $.37 less than a month ago and represent the 3rd and 4th largest month-over-month drop in gas prices across the country.

In July in Illinois, gas prices averaged $2.84, which was down $.12 from June, and $.83 less than a year ago. In northern Indiana, gas prices averaged $2.75 in July, which was down $.17 from June and down $.84 from July 2014.

“As drivers look to take one last road trip before summer ends, these gas savings will make their trips even more affordable,” said Beth Mosher, director of public affairs for AAA Chicago. “These price drops are hopefully just a precursor of much bigger savings at the pump; we could see many parts of the country take another run toward $2 per gallon by the end of the year.”
