Less demand, ample supply push prices lower
03 October 2014
AURORA, Ill., Oct. 3, 2014 —Gas price averages across Illinois and Indiana continue to drop heading into the fall season. Illinois and Indiana drivers are currently paying on average $3.46 and $3.26 respectively for a gallon of regular unleaded. In September in Illinois, gas prices averaged $3.55, which was down $.01 from August 2014 and down $.10 from September 2013. In northern Indiana, gas prices averaged $3.48 in September, which was down $.04 from August and down $.03 from September 2013.
“Increased crude oil supplies and decreased demand coupled with the switch to a less expensive winter blend of gasoline has helped push prices down,” said Beth Mosher, AAA Chicago spokesperson. “Drivers across Illinois and Indiana will have a bit more money to save as gas prices continue to drop this fall.”
