AURORA, Ill., August 2, 2016 — As drivers across Illinois and Indiana try to squeeze in one last summer road trip this month, they’ll benefit from sliding gas prices across the region. Illinois prices are averaging $2.15 and Indiana drivers are paying on average $2.11. These prices represent respective decreases of $.31 and $.08 from just a month ago and a $.50 and $.25 decrease from a year ago.
 
“The Midwest region is one of the most volatile in the country and refinery issues can affect prices dramatically in short periods of time.” said Beth Mosher, director of public affairs for AAA – The Auto Club Group, “Despite these challenges, there is still ample supply which is helping to push prices lower as we head into the last full month of summer. Drivers taking on last summer road trip will enjoy low prices no matter where they’re headed.”
 
In July in Illinois, gas prices averaged $2.27, which was down $.29 from June and $.57 less than a year ago. In northern Indiana, gas prices averaged $2.13 in July, which was down $.31 from June and down $.61 from July 2015.

In Cook County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.51, which is down $.34 from last month and $.47 lower than last year’s price-per-gallon.
In DuPage County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.27 per gallon, which is a $.34 decrease from June and down $.66 from last year.
In Kane County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.25 per gallon, which is down $.34 compared to last month and $.65 lower than last year’s price.
In Lake County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.25 per gallon, which is $.34 lower than last month and down by $.66 compared to this time last year.
In McHenry County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.26 per gallon, which is $.34 lower than last month’s average and $.65 lower than last year.
In Will County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.27 per gallon, which is $.31 lower compared to last month and $.60 lower compared to last year.
In Champaign County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.05 per gallon, a decrease of $.34 from June and $.47 lower than last year.
In McLean County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.07 per gallon, which is $.28 lower than last month and $.52 lower than last year.
In Peoria County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.08 per gallon, which is down $.34 compared to last month and down $.50 from July 2015.
In Sangamon County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.04 per gallon, which is $.34 lower than last month and $.53 lower than last year.
In Winnebago County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.22 per gallon, a decrease of $.30 from June and $.48 lower than July 2015.
In Allen County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.04 per gallon, which is $.36 lower than last month and $.46 lower than July 2015’s price.
In Lake County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.12 per gallon, which is down $.30 from June’s average and is a $.61 decrease from a year ago.
In Porter County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.17 per gallon, which is $.31 lower than last month and $.60 lower than last year.
In St. Joseph County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.10 per gallon, which is $.33 lower compared to last month and $.48 lower than last year.
