The Michigan state average is down 3 cents compared to last week
DEARBORN, Mich., (July 6, 2020) - Gas prices in Michigan are down 3 cents compared to last week. Michigan drivers are now paying an average price of $2.17 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 17 cents more than this time last month and about 72 cents less than this time last year.
Motorists are paying an average of $33 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $11 from when prices were their highest last July.
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand took a slight step back to 8.56 million b/d from 8.61 million b/d last week. Alongside decreasing demand, total domestic gasoline supplies grew by 1.2 million bbl to 256.5 million bbl last week. The national average holding steady means that gasoline supply and demand are largely in sync across the country.
“If these trends continue, motorists could see pump prices slow their increases and hold steady through the week,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group.
Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price increased slightly. Metro Detroit’s current average is $2.24 per gallon, 1 cent more than last week’s average and 64 cents less than this time last year.
