The Michigan state average is down 6 cents compared to last week

19 October 2020

DEARBORN, Mich., (October 19, 2020) - Gas prices in Michigan are down 6 cents compared to a week ago. Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $2.06 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is the same as this time last month and 62 cents less than this time last year.

Motorists are paying an average of $31 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $13 from when prices were their highest last July.

In the new weekly report from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand decreased from 8.90 million b/d to 8.58 million b/d. Low demand, even as total domestic stocks decreased by 1.6 million bbl to 225.1 million bbl last week, has helped pump prices decrease.

"Pump prices will likely continue to decline as demand drops due to fewer road trips taken in the fall," said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA - The Auto Club Group.

Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price decreased. Metro Detroit’s current average is $2.11 per gallon, about 3 cents less than last week’s average and about 56 cents less than this same time last year.
