AAA: Michigan Gas Prices Rise

DEARBORN, Mich., (September 9, 2019) - Gas prices in Michigan are up 5 cents compared to last week.  Michigan drivers are now paying an average price of $2.66 per gallon for regular unleaded. Still drivers are paying 3 cents less than this time last month and 27 cents less than this same time last year. 

Motorists are paying an average of $40 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $7 from when prices were their highest last May.

In its latest weekly petroleum report, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) revealed that total domestic gasoline stocks fell last week from 232 million bbl to 229.6 million bbl. Additionally, gas demand fell 429,000 b/d to 9.47 million b/d.

"With the fall driving season on the horizon, lower demand will likely help to push pump prices lower," said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA - The Auto Club Group.

Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price increased slightly. Metro Detroit’s current average is $2.72 per gallon, 1 cent more than last week’s average and 21 cents less than this time last year.

Every day up to 130,000 stations in the nation and more than 4,200 stations in Michigan are surveyed based on credit card swipes and direct feeds in cooperation with the Oil Price Information Service (OPIS) and Wright Express for unmatched statistical reliability.
