AAA: GEORGIA MOTORISTS PAYING MORE TO FILL-UP AT THE PUMP THIS WEEK
ATLANTA, Ga., (February 25, 2020) — Georgia gas prices increased 3 cents at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $2.30 per gallon for regular unleaded. Monday’s state average is 3 cents more than a week ago, 7 cents less than this time last month, and 2 cents more than this time last year.
It now costs $34.50 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that is $6.60 less than what motorists paid in April of 2019, when pump prices hit their peak of $2.74 per gallon.
"Gasoline prices are likely to fluctuate in the coming weeks, but not drastically, as the winter driving season nears its end and refineries undergo maintenance,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “This is the typical trend this time of year.”
Pump Prices Continue To Follow Winter Trends
Today’s national average is $2.47, which is 5 cents cheaper than last month and 8 cents more expensive than last year. More than half of all state gas price averages increased as much as 3 cents in the last week. The jumps, which caused the national gas price average to increase, was caused by a decrease in U.S. gasoline stocks and increases in demand. The Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) latest data show total domestic gasoline stocks decreased by 2 million barrels to 259.1 million barrels, while demand increased from 8.72 million barrels a day to 8.92 million barrels a day. Some of the decrease in stocks can be attributed to refinery maintenance.
