Windy weather is quickly bringing the curtain down on the state’s 2007 fall color show, with most of the colors now past peak, reports AAA Michigan.

Those still seeking best autumn colors will find a few areas remaining in Southwest and Southeast Michigan. The show is generally over across the Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Michigan.

AAA’s weekly survey of state parks and regional visitor’s bureaus in Southwest Michigan shows peak colors remaining near St. Joseph. Colors are generally past peak near Hastings.

On the Southeast side of the state, peak colors remain near Milford, Tipton and Jackson. Colors are somewhat muted, with orange and yellow leaves draped on trees. Color watchers also report some vibrant reds leaves in scattered areas.

Fall color watchers looking for the best viewing opportunities can call Travel Michigan at (888) 78-GREAT (784-7328) for color updates provided by AAA Michigan. Updates also will be posted at AAA.com (enter ZIP code, click ABOUT AAA tab), or visit www.michigan.org.
