Florida Gas Prices are 30 cents less than last year's holiday

24 May 2019

Florida gas prices are falling fast, as 2.3 million Floridians prepare for a Memorial Day weekend getaway. AAA forecasts 2 million Floridians will take a road trip this weekend - the most since 2005. Click here to read the full AAA Memorial Day Travel Forecast.

"Pump prices are plunging just in time, as travelers hit the road for an extended weekend," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group. "Some retailers in Tampa and Orlando are selling gasoline for less than $2.40 per gallon. Prices are being driven down by new EIA fuel data, which showed surprisingly strong weekly crude and gasoline supply gains. Oil prices have fallen nearly $4 per barrel this week, which could directly result in a 10 cent drop at the pump."

Florida gas prices averaged $2.62 per gallon on Friday (5/24) - the lowest daily average price since March. The state average is 4 cents less than a week ago, 11 cents less than last month, and 30 cents less than this time last year. View daily gas prices.

Memorial Day gas prices will be the holiday’s lowest in two years. In recent years, Memorial Day gas prices in Florida averaged $2.91/g in 2018, $2.31/g in 2017, and $2.25/g in 2016.
