AAA: Vote Against Speed Limit Bill
AAA urges Illinois legislators to vote no on SB 2356, which would increase the speed limit to 70 mph on Illinois’ roadways. The bill has already passed through the Illinois Senate and awaits a full vote by the Illinois House.

Four students from 31 high schools in north suburban Chicago will randomly draw keys with the chance to start and win a car as part of Operation Click’s banquets honoring teens for their year-long efforts to be safe and smart drivers.

AAA: Extreme Winter Weather Calls for Driver Preparation
Snow, extreme cold and blizzard-like weather can create extremely dangerous driving conditions for motorists on most highways statewide. AAA Chicago advises motorists to prepare themselves and their car. Motorists are advised to monitor weather conditions and follow advice from authorities. If it is not safe to travel and you don’t have to travel, don’t drive.

Cell Phone Users More Likely to Speed and Drive Drowsy When Behind Wheel
Motorists who use cell phones while driving are more likely to engage in additional dangerous behaviors such as speeding, driving drowsy, driving without a safety belt and sending texts or emails, according to a survey conducted by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. Additionally, more than two-thirds (69 percent) of licensed drivers reported talking on a cell phone while driving within the last month despite the fact that nearly nine-in-ten respondents (89 percent) believe other drivers using cell phones are a threat to their personal safety.

Wabash County Teens to Learn the Realities of Texting and Driving
AAA, Crossroads Bank, Insurance One and Wabash County high schools partner together to address the dangers of distracted driving. Teens will prove to themselves in a safe setting through the use of AAA’s distracted driving simulators how difficult it is to text and drive. Community business partners Crossroads Bank and Insurance One will encourage teens to take the pledge to drive safely.
