Meemic Insurance Company Provides 20% Premium Refund

to Auto Insurance Policyholders

Refund to help customers reflects fewer claims due to widespread shelter-in-place orders

 

Atlanta, GA. (April 17, 2020) — As part of our commitment to help customers in this uncertain time, Meemic Insurance Company will issue premium refunds to its auto insurance customers. Every policyholder with auto insurance in effect as of April 30, 2020, will receive a 20% policy refund of two months of premium. This reflects current and anticipated continued reductions in miles driven.  Refunds will be processed as soon as regulatory approval is received from individual state departments of insurance and will generate a policy credit.

Insurance customers do not need to take any action to receive their refund, and they can expect to see the policy credit on their account by May 31, 2020, pending approval from state insurance departments.

The premium refunds apply to Meemic Insurance customers in four states: Michigan, Wisconsin, most of Illinois, and Georgia.

During the COVID-19 crisis, Meemic is focused on providing relief for our customers and the communities we serve. In addition to a premium refund, we are providing other forms of support.

Taking Care of Our Customers 

  • We are offering flexible payment options for our insurance customers who may need assistance. Meemic insurance customers can take advantage of this option by calling 800-362-4030.
  • We are pausing cancellations for auto and home policies due to non-payment through May 31, 2020.
  • In support of our policyholders who are on the front line delivering critical items, we are extending our auto insurance coverage – at no additional cost – for drivers who are using their personal vehicles to deliver food and medicine. This change is in effect through May 31, 2020, and we’ll continue to evaluate as this situation progresses.
  • Meemic agents offer customers the many money-saving benefits of AAA Membership, including:
    • ProtectMyID – provides free identity theft monitoring and fraud protection.
    • GoodRx – through our partnership with GoodRx, AAA Members can save up to 85% with this prescription savings program.

Supporting our Communities:

  • Meemic is providing financial support to online learning platforms so necessary in this time of quarantine. 
  • Meemic also plans additional financial support to help educators once school resumes.
  • The Meemic Foundation is donating to several food banks: Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, Feeding America West Michigan, Feeding America – Eastern Wisconsin, Second Harvest – Food Bank of Southern Wisconsin, Greater Chicago Food Depository, U-46 Educational Foundation and Atlanta Community Food Bank.
