1.1 Million Will Travel On Labor Day, Says AAA

An estimated 1.1 million Michiganians have Labor Day holiday travel plans, according to a recent survey by AAA. The number of travelers hitting the highway for the traditional end-of-summer getaway compares favorably with year-ago levels in the Great Lakes region (the Great Lakes region includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin).

AAA Travel Agents Rate Top Midwest Destinations

According to a recent survey of AAA travel agents, Chicago, Ill. is the number one vacation spot in the Midwest. The survey of 572 agents, conducted earlier this year, asked them to rate popular destinations based on their professional opinion. Following Chicago, in order of preference:

1.2 Million Michiganians Have July 4 Travel Plans

An estimated 1.2 million Michiganians will travel during the 2007 Fourth of July holiday, according to a recent AAA survey of 1,950 U.S. residents. Of this number, 92 percent will travel by car and 8 percent will travel by air.

2007 Driving Costs - 52.2 Cents Per Mile Says AAA

Consumers feeling pinched by increases in day-to-day living expenses can take some comfort in AAA’s annual study of driving costs released today. According to the nation’s largest organization for motorists, the cost of owning and operating a new vehicle in 2007 remains basically unchanged from a year ago at 52.2 cents per mile, or $7,823 per year, when driving 15,000 miles annually.
