After months of steady increase, Michigan prices ease slightly

22 April 2019

DEARBORN, Mich., (April 22, 2019) - Gas prices in Michigan slipped 10 cents compared to a week ago, which is the first weekly decrease in over two months. Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $2.82 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 8 cents more than this time last month and about 6 cents less than this time last year.

Motorists are paying an average of $42 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $5 from when prices were their highest last May.

"After months of steady increase, Michigan gas prices have eased slightly," said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA - The Auto Club Group. "But the springtime increase may not be over just yet. Should gasoline stocks tighten and demand increase then drivers could see gas prices continue to rise in the coming weeks."

Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price decreased. Metro Detroit’s current average is $2.83 per gallon, about 6 cents less than last week’s average and about 3 cents less than this same time last year.
