AAA: Make “Move Over for Me” Your New Year’s Resolution for 2023

Most people make New Year’s resolutions to lose weight, exercise more, or stop a bad habit. AAA hopes Nebraskans will make it their resolution to improve road safety by moving over for vehicles that are stopped on the shoulder of the road.

AAA Launches “Move Over for Me” Campaign to Protect All Drivers on the Roadside

AAA has long been an advocate for “Move Over” laws, requiring drivers to slow down and move over for emergency responders on the roadside, yet there continues to be an alarming number of fatalities. Nearly 350 people are struck and killed outside a disabled vehicle each year, and roughly a quarter of motorists don’t know that Slow Down, Move Over laws exist in their state.

AAA - The Auto Club Group worked with community partners and the Office of the Governor on a proclamation to promote the protection of all motorists on the roadside in order to strengthen the existing “Slow Down, Move Over” law, Statute 61-6,378
