25,000 Impaired Drivers Removed From Roadways

The Tow to Go program prevents impaired drivers from getting behind the wheel and risking the lives of other motorists, as well as their own. It offers a safety net to those who would otherwise drive impaired by providing them and their vehicle a free, local ride to a safe location. Since 1998, the Tow to Go program has taken more than 25,000 impaired drivers off the road.

To recognize the 20th Anniversary of the Tow to Go program, AAA will hold a press conference at Gold Coast Eagle Distributing in Sarasota. AAA – The Auto Club Group partners with Budweiser (Anheuser Busch) and its wholesaler partners to offer this life-saving program.

Last year, nearly 11,000 people died from crashes involving drivers with a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of .08g/dL or higher, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  An average of one alcohol-impaired driving fatality occurs every 49 minutes. According to NHTSA’s 2017 data, 27% of the fatalities that occurred in Florida were due to impaired driving.
