Affordable Hotel Rates and Packages are Still Available to Those Who Wish to Witness the Royal Wedding in London

TAMPA, Fla. (March 21, 2011)—Hotels packages are still available at competitive rates in London to witness the historical April 29 Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine (Kate) Middleton. The final count down until the Royal Wedding on Friday, April 29, is upon us and the news hype about this modern day fairy tale wedding has captivated millions all over the world.

Not a day goes by without some mention in the morning and evening news about this historical wedding of Prince William, the second in line to the throne and Kate Middleton. This special wedding is so important to the United Kingdom and British Monarchy that it has been declared a holiday, with more than two billion viewers expected to watch worldwide. Bookings for London have not been as robust as many London hoteliers anticipated. The main reason is because London hotels began to spike rates as soon as the wedding date was announced. Since demand is not as great as anticipated, it appears hotel and package rates have become more realistic and affordable to travelers. For example, current four star hotel rates average about $230 per night.

“This is welcome news if you wish to travel to London to witness royal history and participate in the excitement that will take place during this United Kingdom four-day weekend,” said Jim Sweat, managing director, AAA Travel Agency. “For an event of this caliber, I am amazed by these affordable rates, however they are subject to change.”

Huge crowds are expected with many viewers standing on their tip toes to make themselves as tall as possible to catch a glimpse of the wedding procession as it makes its way from Westminster Abbey down Whitehall, through Horse Guards to The Mall along St. James’s Park with the final arrival at Buckingham Palace.

“However, if you would prefer a much more civilized way to gather for this memorable event, you might wish to join us for an exclusive champagne breakfast and buffet lunch in the historical Carlton House Terrace overlooking The Mall and St. James’s Park,” said Sweat. “Down the street from Buckingham Palace, this famous landmark provides great views of the royal wedding procession as the newlyweds make their way to The Mall and the Palace for the wedding reception.”
